The Montefiore Headache Center
The Montefiore Headache Center has an UCNS-accredited one-year fellowship position beginning July 2011 to receive training in both clinical and research aspects of headache. Clinical training will include the diagnosis and treatment of primary and secondary headache disorders in both adults and adolescents. Fellows will care for a large and diverse outpatient population, with a broad spectrum of headache syndromes of varying complexity. These patients are referred from a regional and national base and present with a broad range of interesting, unusual and refractory disorders. Fellows will also learn how to follow and manage inpatients with refractory primary headaches, using specific intravenous medications and detoxification techniques to accurately and effectively treat these patients. In addition, fellows receive extensive training in performing peripheral nerve blocks (i.e., occipital, supraorbital, supratrochlear and auriculotemporal) and botulinum neurotoxin injections. The Montefiore Headache Center takes a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Fellows work closely with our pain psychologist, learning the basis behind non-pharmacological therapeutic modalities such as biofeedback, cognitive behavioral therapy, and relaxation techniques.
Montefiore Medical Center offers competitive compensation and benefits. Applicants must be graduates of an accredited training program in Neurology, board eligible, and be licensed or eligible for licensure by New York. Candidates should send current C.V., 2 letters of recommendation and personal statement to: Brian M. Grosberg, M.D. Fellowship Program Director, Montefiore Headache Center, 1575 Blondell Avenue, Suite 225, Bronx, NY 10461.
