US Headache Consortium Guidelines

The US Headache Consortium is composed of seven member organizations with an interest in improving the quality of care for people with migraine disorders. The organizations include the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), the American Headache Society (AHS), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine (ACP_ASIM), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the National Headache Foundation (NHF).

The Consortium completed a landmark evidenced-based review of the literature concerning the diagnosis and treatment of migraine. The review has been published as five freestanding documents, in conjunction with an introductory Special Article entitled "Multispecialty Consensus on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Headache," in the April 25, 2000 edition of the journal Neurology. The body of the guideline documents appears only in the online publication of the journal and can be found on the web sites of the journal (www.neurology.org) and the AAN (www.aan.com). The AAN has granted member organizations of the Consortium full license to develop and publish translations and adaptations of the guideline documents.
