Goals & Objectives
- To encourage recruitment of new members to AHS who may have a special interest in TMD, Cervical Spinal and Orofacial Pain (TCOP), with emphasis on the professions of medicine and dental medicine.
- To promote a greater understanding of the differing approaches of physicians and dentists to the management and treatment of TCOP. Also, to suggest that patients with dysfunction of the cervical spine, head and neck muscles or tempormandibular joints have these areas evaluated in relation to their primary headaches.
- To promote the inclusion of myofascial pain in the IHS classification of headache and to develop a method to study the relationship of myofascial pain to all headaches.
- To promote research into the relationship between TCOP and headache.
- To develop and recommend proposals for symposia in TCOP for AHS meetings.
- To increase awareness in the general public, third party payers and among primary care physicians of the existence of TCOP.
- To promote the teaching of the principles of TCOP in schools of medicine and in schools of dental medicine.
