The Refractory Headache Special Interest Section has proposed a definition for Refractory Migraine (RM). Two AHS surveys on RM have further refined the original definition . Our hope is that these criteria will have world wide applicability and will be operational in nature. We continue to collaborate with others in the field have an interest in RM. Research is needed to clarify epidemiology, "best practices", and pathophysiology. Recognition of RM will allow the patients to receive the intensive treatment they deserve.
We are looking for creative, hard working members with an interest in Refractory Headache (RH). We anticipate there will be the opportunity to participate in research further defining RM. Further, several publications, including a dedicated "Special Section" in Headache had their genesis in our group.
