Behavioral Issues

Goals & Objectives
  1. To provide a forum for the discussion of behavioral issues relevant to headache.
  2. To develop educational endeavors, which will inform health care professionals of the importance of the behavioral aspects of headache genesis and care.
  3. To develop and recommend proposals for symposia, workshops and other educational tools for the three AHS meetings per year.
  4. To explore the use of electronic media, printed material and innovative teaching techniques as part of educational endeavors.
  5. To provide an opportunity for discussion of patient-related issues and developing behavioral research.
  6. To encourage recruitment of new members to AHS who may have a specific interest in behavioral issues.
  7. To increase understanding of the role of psychological, social, emotional, behavioral and psychobiological factors in headache.
  8. To further knowledge of behavioral treatments and the integration of behavioral and medical treatment for the headache patient.
  9. To explore joint authorship of review or position papers on behaviorally relevant aspects of headache.
  10. To encourage more behaviorally oriented research related to headache.
  11. To increase awareness in the public at large, headache sufferers, health care professionals, third party payers and employers of the existence and effectiveness of behavioral therapies for headache.
  12. Assist AHS to develop guidelines for clinical trials investigating behavioral management of as well as guidelines for integrated drug and non-drug clinical trials.
