Fellowship Awards
The American Headache Society® (AHS) and Merck announce the availability of the following Fellowship Awards for the 2010 - 2011 fellowship period.
AHS/Merck Headache Specialty Fellowship Award
This is a $40,000 fellowship to support the recipient during a 12-month period, offered in honor of the progress being made towards headache being recognized as a board certified specialty. The funds are for the recipient's stipend and no indirect costs or overhead allowance may be charged.
AHS/Merck Clinical Fellowship Award
This is a $15,000 fellowship to support the recipient during a 12-month period to obtain advanced clinical training in all aspects of headache diagnosis, management, and prevention and to pursue clinical research participation. The funds are for the recipient’s stipend and no indirect costs or overhead allowance may be charged. This award is sponsored by an unrestricted educational grant from Merck.
Criteria for fellowships will be based on the quality of clinical practice-based experience and the applicant's potential to contribute to headache medicine. Applicants must have a commitment for a position at a recognized headache facility that is affiliated with an accredited university hospital in the United States. Applicants must be licensed to practice medicine or be eligible for licensing in the United States, and must reside in the United States. Awardees must submit a six-month progress report and a final report at the end of the fellowship. Previous recipients are eligible to reapply. Institutional supplementation is encouraged.
